Themes of the White Eagle liturgy

We celebrated "Descent of the White Eagle" at the 2006 Goddess Festival.

It tells the story of Brynehilde, the leader of the Valkyries in the Norse pantheon. Her father, Odin, gives his eye to the Norn [Fate] Urda at the Well of Memory in exchange for receiving knowledge of the future, only to see that the future is Ragnarok, the death of the Gods. Odin makes his daughter Brynehilde into a mortal woman and puts her into a deep sleep in a ring of fire. She is awakened by the hero, Siegfried. Even as the old world is being destroyed at Ragnarok, Brynehilde and Siegfried are able to gather the seeds of the old world to take them to a new world, so that all is not lost. Those who worked on this piece experienced a lot of chaos and breaking down of old structures in their lives.
